A recent study was published which compared different types of mindfulness practice. They found an overlap but some had different impacts. Loving Kindness practices were found to create the greatest feelings of warmth and positive thoughts about others and self. Also practising the Loving Kindness meant that participants were less likely to have ruminative negative and past focussed thoughts.
Also other studies have shown that practising Loving Kindness over an 8 week period resulted in an increase in positive emotions and feelings of closeness to others.
The Body Awareness / Body Scan led to the greatest increase in awareness of bodily sensations and “being aware of being aware”
