This weeks mindful reminder is written by Roz x
If our closest friend or loved one falls in life, do we naturally help to pick them back up again and support them with our love and compassion?
It’s unlikely that we would treat them with criticism, blame and anger; yet how often do we do this to ourselves when we fall.
Mindfulness practice can help us to recognise our inner critic and over time we can start to develop loving kindness towards ourselves, so that when we fall in life we can offer ourselves the care and kindness that we need and deserve.
Practicing loving kindness towards ourselves will relieve the pain and suffering in any given moment and allow us to open our hearts and find happiness even in the midst of life’s difficulties.
We can simply pause and ask ourselves “what is it that I need right now?” We might offer ourselves some kind words like “may I be happy and well”, “may I be peaceful” etc. or perhaps we can help ourselves by taking a break, chatting with a friend, having a warm bath or simply say to ourselves gently and with kindness “It’s ok, this too will pass”.
Warmest wishes,
Roz
